The compact automatic PPK-20 is included in the wearable emergency reserve (NAZ) of the crews of the Russian Aerospace Forces. It will be used by front-line aviation pilots, a source in the aircraft industry told RIA Novosti.
- Work on laying PPK-20 in the NAZ will begin in the near future. The machine itself will be placed in the NAZ with a folded butt, without magazines, flame-free and silent firing devices, and other attachments. The pilot will wear it and ammunition in a new body unloading, " the agency interlocutor said.
The NAZ includes a first aid kit, an emergency beacon, food, a knife and other means of survival. He is located in the ejection seat and is parachuted together with the pilot. Previously, the NAZ included a pistol and grenades, unofficially, the pilots also used an AKSU machine gun.
The PPK-20 was created for a 9x19 mm cartridge based on the Vityaz submachine gun. It uses a 30-round magazine and weighs 3.6 kilograms when loaded.
