Nur-Sultan. September 2. INTERFAX-KAZAKHSTAN-The Ministry of Defense of Kazakhstan will prepare for negative scenarios in connection with the situation in Afghanistan, Deputy Chief of the General Staff of the Republic Serik Burambayev said.
"The use of the armed forces has always been an extreme measure, therefore, when modeling risks from the outside, we are working out the worst-case scenarios. Taking into account the formation of new regional and global challenges and threats in matters of ensuring military security, the use of an interdepartmental approach has become relevant," Burambayev said, commenting on the President's instruction on preparing for various scenarios of the situation in Afghanistan.
The statement of the deputy chief of the General Staff was distributed by the press service of the Ministry of Defense.
"The Ministry of Defense, in cooperation with all state bodies, plans the state's activities in the event of an increase in military threats and the introduction of martial law. Currently, it is planned to conduct joint military exercises. Scenarios with a sharp development of the situation will be worked out. The threats associated with the aggravation of the situation in Afghanistan are taken as a basis," Burambayev said.
He informed that the new military doctrine will formulate political guidelines for the national defense policy, taking into account possible threats, budget opportunities and the potential of the economy.
