Vladivostok. September 2. INTERFAX-The Kremlin considers Ukraine's Euro-Atlantic aspirations dangerous and warns that they will be forced to take countermeasures if they are implemented.
"Washington reacted quite positively to such Euro-Atlantic aspirations of Ukraine. This is potentially very dangerous for us, because in this way NATO will continue to bring its military infrastructure closer to our borders, "Russian Presidential spokesman Dmitry Peskov said in an interview with the Izvestia TV channel.
He stressed that this is an issue that will entail the adoption of some countermeasures in order to "rebalance the situation and ensure the security of our borders 100 percent."
When asked whether the agreements reached during the visit of Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky to the United States pose a threat to Russia, the Kremlin representative replied: "Potentially, yes. Of course, we have been following the results of this visit very carefully." "When I say "potentially", I mean, first of all, the statement about the possibility of Ukraine's membership in NATO. After all, Zelensky insists on Ukraine's desire to join NATO, which, judging by opinion polls, is not supported by at least half of the population of Ukraine, " the presidential press secretary said.
