"Since September 1, the Commercial Space Center will start operating at the Korolev Samara University. The corresponding order was signed by the rector Vladimir Bogatyrev. Anton Doroshin, Doctor of Physical and Mathematical Sciences, who until then headed the Institute of Rocket and Space Technology, has been appointed director of the new structure," the report says.
According to Doroshin, the Commercial Space Center will be a link between private companies, scientists, test and production sites. Its activities will reduce the" entry threshold " of private players to the space activity market. "It is advisable for the state and Roscosmos to outsource part of the tasks for the development, testing, production and operation of small space systems, including the manufacture of ultralight launch vehicles and small satellites, since small tasks are economically too costly for the state corporation," Doroshin believes.
As TASS reported, the Center for Commercial Cosmonautics could work with domestic private companies from the space industry. The university noted that a structure is needed that would conduct certified tests, for example, ultralight and light launch vehicles and nanosatellites, would conduct examinations and calculations of flight trajectories. Prior to the creation of the center, private customers applied to Roscosmos for these reasons.
