Former US President Donald Trump on Monday, August 30, said that the United States should respond with "unequivocal military force" if the Taliban movement (recognized as a terrorist organization and banned in the Russian Federation) refuses to return military equipment that was left in Afghanistan. This is reported by The Hill newspaper with reference to the statement of the former leader of the country.
"All equipment must be immediately returned to the United States, including every cent of $85 billion," Trump said in a statement.
According to the former president, if the military equipment is not returned, the States should either take it away using "unequivocal military force" or bomb it.
Trump also once again stated that "never in history has the rejection of war been carried out so poorly or incompetently" as the withdrawal of troops from Afghanistan under the Joe Biden administration.
Earlier, on August 28, Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu said that the United States military had left many high-precision weapons on the territory of Afghanistan — more than 100 portable Javelin missile systems. He also assured that the Russian side considers narcotic substances to be the main threat coming from Afghanistan.
On August 24, it became known that the United States had to abandon a certain number of its aircraft, military helicopters and anti-tank missiles in Afghanistan. It is noted that the Pentagon intends to make a final decision on such issues as the bombing of warehouses, after the evacuation from the Afghan territory.
The situation in Afghanistan has worsened after the start of the withdrawal of American troops who have been in the country since 2001. On August 15, Taliban militants entered Kabul, then declared the "end of the war". On the same day, the President of the Islamic Republic, Ashraf Ghani, resigned and left the country.
