Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky. August 29. INTERFAX - The main risks from the territory of Afghanistan, where the Taliban movement came to power (banned in Russia), are drugs and weapons, including modern portable anti-aircraft missile and anti-tank systems, Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu said.
"All those who are directly involved in the Afghan direction today are constantly analyzing everything that happened there. There is an analysis of the threats, the risks that we already see today, "Shoigu said in an interview with the Rossiya 1 TV channel (VGTRK) on Sunday.
"This is, of course, drugs, this is also a large number of weapons that have fallen (into the hands of). These are portable high-precision weapons, these are MANPADS (portable anti-aircraft missile systems) and ATGMs (anti-tank guided missiles), " the Defense Minister said.
"They say that Javelins (the American Javelin anti-tank missile system) were delivered to Ukraine from the United States, I don't remember, a few dozen or so, but there are more than a hundred of them here (in Afghanistan - IF). It was not delivered, but simply passed into the hands, " Shoigu said.
The Taliban entered Kabul on August 15 and declared that they had liberated Afghanistan and considered the war over. Before that, against the background of the withdrawal of US troops and their allies from Afghanistan, the Taliban conducted a large-scale offensive against the Afghan government forces.
On August 25, the Russian Defense Ministry reported that four Russian military transport planes evacuated more than 500 citizens of the Russian Federation, Belarus, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan and Ukraine from Afghanistan.
