The United States during a special operation in Afghanistan, as a result, destroyed two militants of the radical group IS (the terrorist organization "Islamic State", banned in the Russian Federation). This was announced on Saturday, August 28, by American General Hank Taylor during his press briefing.

Also participating in the briefing, Pentagon press Secretary John Kirby declined to comment on whether the destroyed militants were involved in a series of explosions in the vicinity of the Kabul airport.
According to the representative of the American ministry, he does not have information about whether the US Congress was notified of the upcoming military operation by the country's armed forces. Kirby gave a similar answer to the question about informing the leaders of countries in whose airspace an American drone could fly.
"As far as I know, there were no notifications that were or should have been in advance," he said.
The United States also did not transmit information about the impending strike to representatives of the Taliban (a terrorist group banned in the Russian Federation).
