Kubinka (Moscow region). August 26. INTERFAX-Kalashnikov expects a high demand from foreign customers for the new AK-19 submachine gun with a NATO cartridge (5.56x45 mm) and is ready to establish its production abroad,the general director of the concern Vladimir Lepin told Interfax.
"We have redesigned the AK-12 - IF, which surpasses its foreign counterparts in its characteristics, and I am sure that the need for the AK-19 will undoubtedly be quite large," Lepin said.
He said that the concern is facing the task of expanding the production of a new line of automatic weapons and declared the readiness of Kalashnikov to help foreign partners in this.
"If the partners want to do this at home, we must help them in this," said the CEO of the concern.
The AK-19 is based on the AK-12 submachine gun, which was adopted in the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation in 2018.
