Hong Kong. August 26. INTERFAX-The Taiwan administration has announced plans to increase the defense budget for 2022 from 453.4 billion to 471.7 billion Taiwanese dollars (from $16.25 billion to $16.89 billion), Western media reported on Thursday.
Of these, $1.44 billion is expected to be spent on the purchase of new fighter jets as part of the build-up of combat power in the conditions of mainland China's actions in the Taiwan Strait and in the region.
According to the media, although the government did not provide details, it is probably planned to purchase American F-16 fighters.
