Moscow. August 25. INTERFAX-Russian President Vladimir Putin held a telephone conversation with Pakistani Prime Minister Imran Khan, the parties discussed the situation in Afghanistan, the Kremlin's press service reported on Wednesday.
"When discussing the situation in Afghanistan, the importance of maintaining peace, security and preventing violence in the country, establishing an inter - Afghan dialogue that would contribute to the formation of an inclusive government that takes into account the interests of all population groups was emphasized," the message reads.
"It was agreed to coordinate approaches to the Afghan problem-both in bilateral and multilateral formats. At the same time, the expediency of using the capabilities of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization in ensuring regional stability, as well as the fight against terrorism and the drug threat was noted," the message reads.
According to the report, a number of topics on the bilateral agenda were touched upon, including the development of trade and economic ties and the implementation of joint projects in the energy and humanitarian fields.
