MOSCOW, August 25. /TASS/. /TASS/. The An-124 aircraft delivered 34 OneWeb communication satellites to the Baikonur Cosmodrome. This is stated in the message of Roscosmos, distributed on Wednesday.
"A new batch of 34 OneWeb spacecraft of Mission No. 36 has been delivered to the Baikonur Cosmodrome. They arrived at the airport of the Extreme by An AN-124 plane, " the message says.
According to the state Corporation, the specialists of the Yuzhny Space Center (a branch of the Center for the Operation of Ground-based Space Infrastructure Facilities, part of Roscosmos) unloaded the spacecraft and transported them to the site No. 112 of the Baikonur Cosmodrome.
The launch of the Soyuz-2.1 b carrier rocket with the Fregat upper stage is scheduled for September 2021. It should increase the number of OneWeb satellites in orbit to 322.
The first six OneWeb satellites went into orbit from the Kourou cosmodrome on a Soyuz-ST rocket on February 28, 2019. 34 spacecraft were launched from Baikonur on February 7, 2020, and the same number were launched on March 21 of the same year. For the first time, OneWeb satellites were launched from the Vostochny cosmodrome in December 2020. 36 devices were withdrawn. Then the launches under the program from the Vostochny cosmodrome took place on March 25, April 26, May 28, 2021 and July 1, 2021, from Baikonur - on August 22, 2021.
