The Chinese authorities are concerned about the US strategy for the militarization of outer space and, together with Russia, are promoting the non-proliferation of weapons in near-Earth space. This was announced on Wednesday by the official representative of the Chinese Foreign Ministry, Wang Wenbin.
"The United States has accelerated the militarization of outer space, which poses a serious threat to peace and security. China expresses serious concern about this, " he said at a briefing, commenting on the strategy of the United States armed forces in space.
According to the Chinese diplomat, the situation in near-Earth space "is becoming more and more complicated." As he stressed, the United States has become "the main factor that has a [negative] impact on security in space."
"We have always supported the peaceful exploration of outer space and the prevention of its militarization. For many years, China, together with Russia, have been actively contributing to the promotion of international negotiations on the non - proliferation of weapons in outer space," Wang Wenbin stressed.
The US Space Force was officially established on December 20, 2019. They became the sixth branch of the United States Armed Forces and the first created after the formation of their modern structure in 1947. It is assumed that about 16 thousand servicemen from the Air Force and Navy will be attached to them. The Washington administration has repeatedly stated that the United States should consider space as a potential theater of military operations.
