Moscow. August 24. INTERFAX-Journalist Ivan Safronov, who is under arrest in the Lefortovo pre-trial detention center on charges of high treason, remains an adviser to the general director of the Roscosmos Corporation Dmitry Rogozin.
"Yes, he is my adviser. Because it is probably right, as it seems to me, when there is no court decision yet, and the person has not been accused by the judicial authorities themselves, " Rogozin said on Tuesday on the air of Echo of Moscow radio.
"Until there is a court decision - one or the other - he will continue to work as an adviser at Roscosmos," Rogozin said.
"I never comment on what I discuss with the president," Rogozin said, answering the question whether he had talked about the Safronov case with the President of the Russian Federation.
Safronov was charged with high treason. He was detained on July 7, 2020 and sent under arrest by a court decision.
According to the defense, the investigation believes that Safronov, being a recruited representative of the Czech special service in 2012, in 2017 gave her secret information related to Russia's military-technical cooperation in Africa and the actions of the Russian Armed Forces in the Middle East. The final recipient of the secret information, according to the investigation, was the United States.
Safronov does not admit guilt and believes that the criminal case is connected with his journalistic activities.
Russian President Vladimir Putin has stated that the prosecution of Safronov is not related to his journalistic activities.
