Russian Security Council Secretary Nikolai Patrushev, at the annual meeting of high representatives of the BRICS countries in charge of security issues, drew the attention of colleagues to attempts to impose alien ideals on the peoples of the five countries. According to him, they are trying to pass off these ideals as so-called universal democratic values.
"We saw just a week ago in Afghanistan how viable the regimes that the West is trying to build around the world on their basis are," Patrushev noted. According to the secretary of the Russian Security Council, in many ways this situation resembles the Cold War era. The West is fighting to maintain its global dominance, ignoring the objective request of the international community for collective actions to counter common threats and challenges. At the same time, he is trying not only to maintain his political, military and economic dominance, but also to assign himself the status of a moral arbiter. Even the pandemic that has engulfed the planet does not stop a number of countries from persistently promoting their destructive agenda, which undermines the sovereignty of other states and the stability of entire regions.
Such a line, according to the Secretary of the Security Council of the Russian Federation, leads to the destruction of the global architecture formed after the Second World War, based on the equality of all sovereign players and the coordinating role of the UN. Instead, the West offers humanity a so-called rule-based order.
"In fact, within the framework of this doctrine, the world is divided into two unequal parts: the elite represented by the United States and its closest allies, who dictate these rules, and the disenfranchised majority, which must obey them. All countries that disagree with this formulation of the issue are declared a threat or outcasts, " Patrushev said.
