The new military unit will be part of the 7th Airborne Division
KUBINKA /Moscow region/, August 24. /TASS/. A new airborne assault regiment will be formed in the Crimea by December 1. This was announced to TASS on Tuesday by the commander of the Airborne Troops (Airborne forces), Colonel-General Andrey Serdyukov.
"The decree of the President of the Russian Federation on the formation of the regiment has been signed, there is an executive directive of the Chief of the General Staff, in accordance with it, the (amphibious assault) regiment in the Crimea will be formed by December of this year," he said on the sidelines of the International Military-Technical Forum "Army - 2021".
The new military unit will be part of the 7th Airborne Assault (Mountain) Division (Novorossiysk). Previously, the airborne forces in the Crimea were represented by an amphibious assault battalion, which periodically changes according to the principle of rotation.
