Russian developers have started creating mini-missiles for the destruction of unmanned aerial vehicles.
According to Pavel Sozinov, the general designer of the Almaz-Antey concern, the projectile will be a small-sized anti-aircraft missile. As RIA Novosti notes, the work is financed at the expense of the company.
Drones of small size pose a serious threat to military and administrative facilities. In addition to reconnaissance tasks for targeting other weapons, the devices can be equipped with a warhead capable of causing significant damage.
At the same time, UAVs are relatively cheap to manufacture and it is impractical to use conventional anti - aircraft missiles for their destruction-their cost can be hundreds of times more expensive than the destroyed vehicles. In addition, the non - contact sensor of standard ammunition of anti-aircraft missile systems may not react to a mini-and especially a micro-drone, the designer explained.
