The rifle is being created for the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation as part of the Reaper development work
KUBINKA /Moscow region/, August 24. /TASS/. State tests of the latest Chukavin sniper rifle (SHF), developed in the Russian Federation by the Kalashnikov Group of companies (part of the Rostec State Corporation) to replace the Dragunov sniper rifle (SVD), are planned to be completed by the end of this year. This was reported to TASS in the press service of Kalashnikov during the international military-technical forum "Army-2021".
"The Chukavin sniper rifle is being created for the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation as part of the Reaper development work. It is supposed to be the only army modification of this weapon. The state tests are being completed, we believe that they will end before the end of this year,"Kalashnikov informed.
The Chukavin semi-automatic sniper rifle is designed for two types of cartridges - 7.62 x 54 mm and 7.62 x 51 mm (.308 Win). In the caliber of 7.62 x 54 mm, it is compatible with the magazines from the SVD, which is intended to replace.
The Army-2021 Forum is held from August 22 to 28 in Kubinka, near Moscow.
