INTERFAX-The situation in Afghanistan was discussed during a telephone conversation between the Secretary of the Security Council of the Russian Federation Nikolai Patrushev and the assistant to the US President for national Security Jacob Sullivan, the press service of the Security Council of the Russian Federation reported.
It is noted that Patrushev and Sullivan discussed issues of Russian-American cooperation in the field of security, paying special attention to bilateral cooperation in the field of information security.
"There was an exchange of views on the situation in Afghanistan," the Russian Security Council stressed.
The conversation between Patrushev and Sullivan took place against the background of the aggravation of the situation in Afghanistan, where the Taliban movement (a terrorist organization banned in the Russian Federation) came to power.
