TSAMTO, August 23. Russia and Iran, after the lifting of the UN arms embargo, are conducting a dialogue on the entire range of military products, Russian Ambassador to Tehran Levan Jagaryan said in an interview with RIA Novosti.
"Military-technical cooperation with Iran has a fairly long history of more than 50 years. It is developing on a mutually beneficial basis with strict compliance by Russia with international obligations in the field of arms trade. Taking into account the lifting of the known restrictions, the Russian side is conducting a constructive dialogue with its Iranian partners on the entire range of military products," the ambassador said.
Earlier, Russian President Vladimir Putin said that Russia and Iran have plans for cooperation, including in the military-technical sphere. The director of the FSMTC, Dmitry Shugaev, said that Iran is interested in various nomenclature of Russian weapons.
Since October 18, 2020, Tehran has been able to sell and buy weapons, before that there was a permissive order for the supply of weapons to Iran, regulated by the nuclear deal, the agency notes.
