A prototype of the 9-mm PPK-20 submachine gun from the Kalashnikov Group of companies was presented at the Army-2021 forum.
The PPK-20 was modified, now it has become much smaller. The length of the PP with a folded telescopic butt is only 41 centimeters. The weight of a submachine gun without ammunition is 2.5 kg.
Like other modern small arms, the new PPK-20 is equipped with a Picatinny rail, which allows you to install optical sights, infrared designators, tactical lights and other "body kit"on it.
During the tests, it turned out that when using 7N21 cartridges, the PPK-20 ensures the penetration of a bulletproof vest of the 3A protection class. The rate of fire is 800 rounds per minute.
A compact submachine gun can be useful for special forces working in urban areas or on transport. It is great for concealed carry.
It is also considered as a weapon for inclusion in the wearable emergency reserve (NAZ) of pilots of the Russian Aerospace Forces. NAZ is located in a cup under the ejection seat and is evacuated together with the pilot. It includes a supply of food, water, a first-aid kit, alarm and communication equipment, as well as weapons. Currently, pilots are most often armed only with personal weapons, that is, a Makarov or Stechkin pistol, as well as grenades.
The PPK-20 has already been tested at the flight test center of the Ministry of Defense in Akhtubinsk. During the tests, the possibility of placing the PP in the ejection seat was confirmed. At the moment, the tests of the new product are continuing.
