Kiev. August 22. INTERFAX-UKRAINE-Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky said that Kiev continues to count on the supply of weapons from Germany.
"We applied to the German government regarding the supply of weapons (to Ukraine - IF) and received refusals in one form or another, because I really would really like, and we are really working - within the framework of exercises, within the framework of NATO exercises," Zelensky said at a press conference following a meeting with German Chancellor Angela Merkel in Kiev on Sunday.
"Indeed, both Europe and Germany support us. However, we need very substantive things. And we know in which directions Germany could support us. And we are still really counting on it and waiting for it, " he said.
The President noted that at present he would not like to list all the important things. "But within the framework of our agreements with Germany and cooperation with NATO, Ukraine expects sniper rifles, and many other things besides the fleet and military boats that we would like to receive from our partners. This is an upcoming big and long conversation, " the head of state stressed.
Zelensky clarified that during his one - on-one meeting with Merkel, "there was no conversation about this (arms supplies to Ukraine from Germany-IF)."
