The Kalashnikov Group of Companies (part of the Rostec State Corporation) has developed the PPK-20 submachine gun designed for pilots of the Russian Aerospace Forces (VKS). The weapon was first presented on Sunday, August 22, at the international military-technical forum "Army-2021".
Denis Fisenko, Deputy General Director of Kalashnikov for Special Projects, said that the submachine gun has been successfully tested, adapted to a portable emergency reserve, it can also be used in the cockpit of an aircraft.
The PPK-20 has a telescopic butt for shooting from the left and right shoulder, a kalimator sight, a Picatini bar, an infrared beam, Fisenko said.
Tests of the PPK-20 were conducted at the state flight test center of the Ministry of Defense in Akhtubinsk. They showed the possibility of placing it in an ejection seat, tests are continuing to assess the effectiveness of the changes made.
With a positive assessment of the tests, Kalashnikov is ready to start producing submachine guns. According to Fisenko, PPK-20 has a significant export potential.
In February, the group of companies noted that the newest PPK-20 submachine gun was created on the basis of the already familiar Vityaz-SN submachine gun. The differences, as noted, are that the PPK-20 has a redesigned trigger mechanism and a more modern butt, unlike the Vityaz.
Then it was also reported that the supply of the PPK-20 submachine gun could begin in 2021.
