Yerevan. August 20. INTERFAX-Secretary of the Security Council of Armenia Armen Grigoryan said that a peace agreement with Azerbaijan is possible in the case of a comprehensive solution to the Karabakh conflict.
"We have not received any such proposal, whether it is a peace treaty or something else. But we have a position on this: a peace treaty can be signed through a peaceful and comprehensive settlement of the Karabakh conflict, and this is possible within the framework of the OSCE Minsk Group co - chairmanship," he said on Armenian Public Television on Friday, commenting on the statement of Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev that Baku wants to sign a peace treaty with Yerevan and begin the process of border delimitation, but has not yet received a response from the Armenian side to these proposals.
Grigoryan recalled that the Minsk Group co-chairs also made a statement about their readiness to negotiate a long-term and comprehensive settlement of the conflict, and this will be the best peace treaty.
"This way is the beginning of demarcation work, and we are ready for it. At the moment, Azerbaijan is not ready for this, and the problem of Nagorno - Karabakh is not related to the demarcation," Grigoryan added.
Last Saturday, in an interview with the Turkish TV channel CNN Turk, Aliyev said that " several times he openly expressed our position on this issue: we want to sign a peace treaty."
"Armenia and Azerbaijan should recognize each other's territorial integrity and begin the process of delimitation, i.e. the definition of borders," Aliyev said.
According to him, Armenia has not yet given a positive response to this proposal. "Apparently, Armenia is not ready for this or is against it. I have already said that this is a big mistake, and they will regret it, since our offer will not be at the table forever. If they are against it, then let them openly say that they do not want to sign a peace treaty with Azerbaijan," Aliyev said.
At the same time, he noted that "long-term peace will come to the region" if Armenia is "ready to recognize" the territorial integrity of Azerbaijan.
