The Kaliningrad Region is a fairly militarized enclave of Russia, which, nevertheless, is not capable of independently conducting aggressive ground operations in Poland. This is stated in the publication of the Defence24 portal, which analyzes the upcoming Russian-Belarusian maneuvers "West-2021".
"This Russian enclave is heavily militarized, but without reinforcements from the rest of Russia, the forces stationed there cannot independently conduct potential ground operations in Poland," the publication estimates the possible situation.
The publication notes that the 152nd Guards Missile Brigade, stationed in the city of Chernyakhovsk, Kaliningrad Region, is armed with 12 Iskander combat and tactical missile launchers. "They can hit almost any object on a large territory of Poland. This is one of the reasons why it is so important to build a new Polish air and missile defense system (air defense and missile defense — approx. "Tapes. ru"), " notes Defence24.
The publication reminds that the Russian 34th Mixed Aviation Division and the 44th Air Defense Division provide a relatively strong air defense of the Kaliningrad region.
In August, the director of the Institute of Military Strategy of the Academy of Martial Arts, Lieutenant General Bohuslav Samol, who headed the command of the NATO multinational corps "North-East"in 2012-2015, said that Russian modernized tanks have advantages over the outdated Polish T-72 and PT-91 Twardy.
