Moscow. August 18. INTERFAX-The heads of the space departments of the BRICS countries have signed an agreement on cooperation in the exchange of satellite data for remote sensing of the Earth (remote sensing), Roscosmos reported.
"During the meeting, the heads of space agencies signed an agreement on cooperation in the exchange of satellite data for remote sensing of the Earth," the message reads.
The Agreement will promote cooperation between the space agencies of the BRICS countries in creating a virtual constellation of remote sensing satellites and exchanging data, which will help solve such problems as climate change, environmental protection and eliminating the consequences of natural man-made disasters.
"Dmitry Rogozin noted that the agreement on cooperation in the field of satellite constellation of remote sensing of the Earth of the BRICS countries will be another significant step towards the development of mutually beneficial five-sided cooperation in the field of exploration and development of outer space for peaceful purposes," the state corporation reported.
In addition, he stressed that this agreement demonstrates the transition of the BRICS countries from bilateral agreements in the field of space activities to the implementation of cooperation in a multilateral format within the framework of the BRICS.
