London. August 15. INTERFAX-Recognizing the legality of the Taliban movement (banned in the Russian Federation) unilaterally would be an unacceptable step, British Prime Minister Boris Johnson said on British television.
"We do not want anyone and the Taliban to establish official relations, "The Guardian quotes the prime minister as saying.
He clarified that the UN and NATO should act together on this issue.
Johnson acknowledged that the power in Afghanistan has changed, noting that the political future of Afghanistan remains uncertain.
"No one wants Afghanistan to become a breeding ground for terror... or it has rolled back to the situation before 2001, " the prime minister stressed.
Earlier, the Associated Press, citing a representative of the Taliban, reported that the insurgents from the Taliban group plan to soon announce the creation of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan.
