The American company Arcflash Labs has opened a pre-order for the world's first manual electromagnetic gun GR-1 ANVIL. It can accelerate a ferromagnetic projectile with a diameter of 10-12 centimeters to a speed of 60 meters per second - this is comparable to a powerful air rifle.
GR-1 is an electromagnetic Gauss gun, that is, it accelerates the projectile with the help of coils. The railguns that the US Navy is testing have significantly higher efficiency, but are bulky and require large energy sources. The hand cannon weighs nine kilograms and can fire 100 rounds per minute. The muzzle energy of the weapon is 85 joules, writes N+1.
Due to their modest combat capabilities, Gauss accelerators are not of interest to the military, but they are often mentioned in science fiction and are present in computer games - in Fallout 76, the Gauss carbine is an extremely powerful weapon.
The GR-1 ANVIL costs $ 3,375. The customer is obliged to sign a waiver of any claims against the company
