Washington. August 13. INTERFAX-The main part of the three-thousandth group of the US military, which will ensure the evacuation of US embassy staff in Afghanistan, should arrive in Kabul by the end of this week, Pentagon spokesman John Kirby said at a briefing on Friday.
"Some elements from one of the infantry battalions of Marines are already there, in Kabul... the rest of the troops will arrive within the next couple of days, and as I expect, by the end of the weekend, the main part of the 3 thousand that we talked about yesterday will be in place, " he said.
He noted that there will be no problems with the removal of people by air, and it will be possible to evacuate thousands of people a day by air.
Kirby also expressed concern about the pace of advance of the Taliban militants (banned in the Russian Federation) in Afghanistan, but noted that " no result is predetermined."
According to him, so far, Kabul is not in immediate danger, although the Taliban are trying to isolate the capital of Afghanistan.
On the eve of the briefing, Kirby said that the US command will attract about 4 thousand military personnel, as well as transfer a reserve group of infantry to Kuwait in order to ensure the safe export of American diplomats and other persons from Afghanistan.
