Yinchuan (China). August 12. INTERFAX-AVN-Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu arrived in China on Thursday on a working visit to monitor the active phase of the Russian-Chinese operational-strategic exercises "Sibu / Interaction-2021".
Shoigu will also meet with Chinese Defense Minister Wei Fenghe during the visit.
According to the Russian military department, " the main topics of the upcoming talks will be issues of bilateral military cooperation, including practical interaction of the armed forces of the two countries."
The Sibu/Interaction-2021 exercises are being held at the Qingtongxia training ground of the Ningxia-Hui Autonomous Region of China.
The exercises, to which Russia has sent several multi-purpose Su-30SM fighters, will last until August 13.
Earlier, the press service of the VVO reported that about 13 thousand military personnel and almost 500 units of weapons and equipment will take part in the Russian-Chinese maneuvers.
The VVO reported that Russia sent military personnel of the operational-tactical aviation detachment, personnel of a motorized rifle unit from the Trans-Baikal Territory, and its management apparatus to the exercise. China will be represented by the ground forces and the Air Force at the exercise.
The Air Defense Ministry reported that during the exercise, the Russian military uses armored vehicles of the Chinese army.
"The military of the two countries deployed the forces of a joint grouping in a given area, organized reconnaissance in order to identify fortified points of a conditional enemy, and also worked out individual episodes of the active part of the exercise, which includes, among other things, conducting a ground-air anti-terrorist operation," the press service of the Air Defense Ministry reported on August 11.
On Thursday, the VVO reported that Russian and Chinese combat aircraft carried out a bomb attack on a conditional enemy during an exercise.
