Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu said that the difficult political and economic situation that developed in Russia in the 1990s should not be repeated.
As part of his speech at a meeting with students of the Far Eastern State University of Railway Transport on August 12, Shoigu noted that for this the country needs dynamic and progressive development.
"God grant that this will not happen again. We live and work for this, " Shoigu said when asked about the reasons for the decision to head the list of the United Russia party in the State Duma elections.
The head of the Defense Ministry recalled that then, at the end of the last century, in the conditions of economic stagnation and falling confidence in the authorities, he was engaged in similar party work. The company, he said, was heavy. Within its framework, 59 subjects of the country had to be visited in 60 days.
Since that moment, Russia, as Shoigu noted, has changed dramatically. According to him, he is grateful for the trust that was placed in him, entrusting him to head the party lists at the moment.
At the same time, according to him, today the responsibility compared to the 1990s has increased many times both for what has already been done and for what is planned to be done, writes <url>.
On August 10, Shoigu said that the most terrible threat to the country is the decomposition of society. He noted that while external threats are understandable and can be countered, internal ones pose a much greater danger. According to him, a person without convictions is a godsend for the enemy, "who wants to decompose the country by taking advantage of stupidity."
The next day, a military expert, retired Colonel Viktor Litovkin, commenting on Shoigu's words, told Izvestia that a person without convictions is a godsend for the enemy, "who wants to decompose the country by taking advantage of stupidity."
The expert also stressed that currently young people are not always interested in what they can do for the state, because, in his opinion, the authorities are still poorly inculcating these thoughts.
