The Canadian company Geometric Energy, represented by its director Samuel Reed, announced a joint project with SpaceX and the launch of a new service in outer space. We are talking about showing ads that are not visible from the Ground, but the Earth itself will be very clearly visible – it will become the background for the display. Reed believes that large brands will launch a real financial battle for such a PR opportunity, and therefore he has already planned an auction.
The idea is to equip one of the SpaceX satellites with a large screen, in front of which to fix an analog of a "selfie stick"-a manipulator with a camera. You order an ad, it is displayed on the screen, the satellite turns its back to the planet and takes a selfie. After that, your advertising will be visible on ordinary terrestrial screens in real space against the background of our planet. The most spectacular and large-scale background available, if you think about it. Advertising will be constantly replaced, positions are determined during the auction. To place it, you need to purchase five tokens: Gamma is responsible for the brightness of the display; Kappa for the color; Beta determines the X coordinate; Ro determines the Y coordinate; Xi is responsible for the demonstration time. This is what concerns the technical characteristics of the image for demonstration, and there is also a place in the queue, which is determined by the size of your bid. Reed calls this "the most democratic access to space", since the content itself has no restrictions – you can show anything you want. You can buy tokens and a place in the queue for dollars, but it is better for a cryptocurrency, which is assigned Dogecoin by default. Samuel Reed expressed hope to eventually transfer all financial transactions to this platform. SpaceX has not yet given any comments about the project, and as Western media note, the Canadian startup has been actively recruiting Americans as partners since 2018, but so far without much success.
