The Orthodox Church is in second place, the head of the Ministry of Defense noted
TASS, August 10. The level of trust in the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation in society ranges from 79 to 86%, this is the highest indicator. This was stated on Tuesday by the head of the Defense Ministry Sergei Shoigu at a panel discussion at the youth forum "Territory of Meanings".
"According to the sociology of 10-12 years ago, the confidence in the armed forces in our country was 27-29%. There was confidence that our army was able to protect the country, that it could be hoped for. Today it is from 79% to 86% - this is the most trusted institution in our country," he said.
According to Shoigu, the Orthodox Church is in second place.
"Of course, we managed to achieve this not just by pumping up some kind of sociology somehow. To do this, we had to do a lot, " the minister said.
Shoigu said that Russian President Vladimir Putin has adopted a large program for the rearmament of the army for this purpose. In addition to the rearmament of the army, he continued, a program was needed so that "the money that is invested in the purchase of weapons was used as it should be, for its intended purpose." "So, it was necessary to modernize the military-industrial complex. Very large funds were also allocated for this," the head of the Defense Ministry said.
He stressed that at present the Russian army surpasses all others in terms of the level of modern weapons.
