Yekaterinburg. August 5. INTERFAX-Russia, Uzbekistan and Tajikistan will develop common approaches and work out new ways of conducting combat operations at exercises near the border with Afghanistan, the press service of the Central Military District (CVO) reported on Thursday.
"In difficult physical, geographical and climatic conditions, we will work out in practice new ways of conducting combat operations, taking into account modern experience. We will study the possibilities of new models of equipment and weapons, " Deputy commander of the Central Military District Yevgeny Poplavsky said at the opening ceremony of the exercise, as quoted by the press service.
He also noted that "the accumulated combat experience" will be tested at the exercise, "optimal forms of using troops" will be tested and "common approaches to conducting military operations" will be developed.
"In the modern world, there is an increase in military threats, the situation is becoming more tense and unpredictable. (...) I am sure that holding a joint exercise will strengthen the combat potential of our countries, unite the personnel of the contingents for guaranteed protection of our states from aggressive encroachments, " Poplavsky stressed.
The exercises are taking place against the background of the aggravation of the situation in Afghanistan.
