Jerusalem. August 5. INTERFAX-Israeli fighter jets attacked targets in southern Lebanon early on Thursday morning, The Jerusalem Post reports.
According to a military statement, the Israeli Air Force struck areas "from which rockets were fired at the State of Israel during the day (...). Another target was also attacked in the area from which rockets were launched in the past."
The publication clarifies that the attacks were carried out in response to rockets fired at Israel on Wednesday afternoon.
It is noted that this is the fourth stage of Israeli strikes on targets in southern Lebanon in a day.
"The attacks of the Israel Defense Forces will continue and even intensify in the face of terrorist attempts against the State of Israel and its citizens," the military said in a statement.
Earlier it was reported that three rockets were launched from the territory of Lebanon on Wednesday in the direction of the Golan Heights, some of which are controlled by Israel.
Air raid sirens went off in the area of the Israeli city of Kiryat Shmona and kibbutz Kfar Giladi. As a result, two rockets fell near Kiryat Shmona, and another one fell on Lebanese territory.
The Israel Defense Forces responded by opening tank fire at the place from where the rockets were launched.
