The CEO of the largest weapons concern Kalashnikov will be replaced, the name of the new head is Vladimir Lepin.
Now he is acting as CEO instead of Dmitry Tarasov, who left at his own request, who headed the concern since September 2019. A purely formal decision on the change of management will be made at a meeting of the board of directors on August 10.
Vladimir Lepin is a well-known person in the domestic military-industrial complex. His colleagues consider him an excellent designer and a competent manager.
He was born on July 28, 1959 in Tambov. He graduated from the Tambov Higher Military Aviation Engineering School and the adjunct course of the Air Force Academy named after Professor N. E. Zhukovsky.
Since 2001, he has held senior positions at defense enterprises, such as the Tula Cartridge Factory, TSNIITOCHMASH, the Scientific and Production Association "Alloy", "Techmash", including managing the creation and development of serial production of a complex of ammunition for small arms, was the general designer for wearable weapons and combat equipment of military personnel.
It is known that under his leadership, "Alloy" has increased its portfolio of orders, both internal and external. The company's revenue indicators increased by 6%, profits-by 10%, capacity utilization for the long-term period was increased to 76%. Three new MLRS complexes were adopted - "Tornado G", "Tornado C" and "Hurricane 1M", "Tosochka" and "Armored Truck"were completed with a positive result of OCD.
In 2020-2021, Vladimir Lepin worked as Deputy Chairman of the Scientific and Technical Council of the Rostec State Corporation.
Lepin-Doctor of Technical Sciences, Corresponding Member of the Russian Academy of Sciences, full member of the Russian Academy of Rocket and Artillery Sciences, Doctor of Technical Sciences. He was awarded the medal of the Order of Merit for the Fatherland, II degree.
It is significant that the new appointment was highly appreciated by the director of the Federal Service for Military-Technical Cooperation of Russia Dmitry Shugaev. According to him, as quoted by RIA Novosti, with the arrival of Vladimir Lepin as CEO of the Kalashnikov concern, the export potential of the enterprise will be fully realized. Shugaev noted that under the leadership of Lepin, the Techmash concern began its foreign economic activity in 2018 as an independent subject of military-technical cooperation. And after a short time, Lepin managed to achieve significant results in the military-technical cooperation.
