Kabul. August 3. INTERFAX-The US Embassy in Afghanistan has called on the Taliban movement (banned in Russia) to respect the rights of citizens and immediately cease fire.
The statement notes that since the signing of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights in 1948, all people have a legal responsibility to respect the inherent dignity of every human being.
"The Taliban's disregard for the dignity of every Afghan citizen and human life in a broader sense has shocked the world. This is not how legitimate forces or governments behave. The Taliban has repeatedly violated the human rights of Afghans," the statement said.
"We call on the Taliban to respect the rights of every Afghan. There must be a political settlement. The United Kingdom and the United States call for a cease-fire now, " the document emphasizes.
Earlier, the Afghan Defense Ministry reported that on Tuesday, aircraft struck a cluster of Taliban in Lashkar Gah, as a result of which 25 terrorists were killed.
Over the past day, the Taliban have lost more than 100 people killed in battles with government troops for control of the city. However, despite such significant losses, they do not stop trying to storm Lashkargokh.
Non-governmental humanitarian organizations report a large number of wounded civilians.
