The British have officially launched the Space Command. The Ministry of Defense of the United Kingdom indicates that the space forces will protect the interests and capabilities of the country in space.
"A special ceremony held yesterday at the headquarters of the Royal Air Force Space Command in High Wycombe in Buckinghamshire marked the official opening of the UK Space Command, and the first Space Operator badges were awarded to personnel, "the press service of the UK Ministry of Defense reported.
Launch of the UK Space Command
Officially named the "UK Space Command" (U.K. Space Command), the new agency takes command and control of the country's Space Operations Center, the SKYNET military communications center and the ballistic missile early warning radar in the north-east of England.
