The former head of the food department of the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation, Andrey Berezhnoy, partially admitted guilt in the case of a bribe that exceeds 1 billion rubles.
"I partially admit my guilt," Berezhnoy said at the 235th Garrison Military Court in Moscow.
The ex-expert of the food department, Lieutenant Colonel Alexey Grinyuk, ex-head of the department for conducting competitive procedures for state orders of the Department of Public Procurement of the Ministry of Defense Yuri Reshetnikov and ex-head of the technical support department of the food department of the Ministry of Defense, Colonel Alexander Vakulin, are also being held in this case.
The defendants are accused of taking bribes on an especially large scale (part 6 of Article 290 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation), as well as of exceeding official powers with causing serious consequences (part 3 of Article 286 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation).
During the announcement of the indictment in court, it became known that the damage in the criminal case of ex-officials of the Ministry of Defense, accused of a bribe of 386 million rubles, exceeded 1 billion rubles. So, the investigation estimated the damage from exceeding their official powers at 650,42 million rubles.
Earlier, on July 26, the military prosecutor's office reported that the ex-head of the food department of the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation created a criminal group to receive bribes. It was noted that this group included four officers. It was about Berezhny, Grinyuk, Vakulin and a civilian specialist Alexander Boruvkov.
In March, the former deputy head of the department of the Russian Defense Ministry for competitive procedures, Alexander Boruvkov, was sentenced by a court to 6.5 years in a penal colony for fraud with state contracts for 650 million rubles and a bribe of 368 million rubles. The judge took into account the full admission of guilt by the defendant, the exposure of his accomplices, and partial compensation for damage. He is also obliged to pay a fine of 368 million rubles.
