Moscow. August 2. INTERFAX - The number of contract servicemen in the Russian Airborne troops will increase to 80% by the end of next year, said the commander of the Airborne Forces Andrey Serdyukov.
"By the end of 2022, we plan to bring the indicators of staffing of troops with military personnel under the contract to 80% of the total number of military personnel, "Serdyukov said in an interview with the newspaper of the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation Krasnaya Zvezda.
According to him, now more than 27 thousand contract soldiers serve in the Airborne Forces, compared to 2012, their number has increased by 3.5 times. At the same time, more than 65% of contract soldiers in the military have higher and secondary vocational education.
"Today, more than 80% of military personnel conclude second and subsequent contracts, and more than 30% of military personnel undergoing military service on conscription decide to conclude the first contracts with further military service in the Airborne Troops," Serdyukov said.
He also said that this year the Airborne Forces will receive more than 300 units of weapons, military and special equipment and more than 12 thousand sets of landing equipment and parachute systems, "which will bring the level of provision with modern and modernized samples to 75%."
The commander of the Airborne Forces noted that in terms of their design features and characteristics, Russian parachutes are superior to foreign ones, but work is constantly continuing to create promising means.
"For example, a promising special - purpose parachute system designed for landing from altitudes of 1200-8,000 meters has now been developed and passed state tests. At the same time, with the maximum flight weight of a paratrooper of 190 kg, the flight range under the main parachute from an altitude of 8000 m can reach 60 km. The suspension system provides for the attachment of a front-mounted cargo container weighing up to 50 kg, " Serdyukov said.
According to him, with the development of technologies, forms and methods of conducting armed struggle, approaches to training specialists are also changing. In particular, the Ryazan Guards Higher Airborne Command School named after Margelov will train cadets in the military specialty "The use of airborne units with unmanned aerial vehicles" from 2021.
On August 2, the Airborne Troops celebrate the 91st anniversary of their formation.
For the first time, the parachute landing of personnel was used at the exercises of the Moscow Military District on August 2, 1930 - this date is considered to be the birthday of the Airborne Forces.
