ROSTOV-ON-DON, Aug 1-RIA Novosti. Servicemen of the Indian armed Forces have arrived in Volgograd to participate in the Russian-Indian ground forces exercise "Indra-2021", Vadim Astafyev, head of the press service of the Southern Military District, told reporters.
"A group of 250 servicemen of the Indian Armed Forces who will take part in the international exercise Indra-2021 has arrived at the Gumrak airport (Volgograd), "he said.
From the airport, the Indian servicemen went to a field camp at the Prudboy training ground of the Southern Military District in the Volgograd Region.
The Indra-2021 exercise will be held at the Prudboy training ground from August 1 to August 13 of this year. It will be attended by 250 servicemen of motorized rifle, tank and artillery units, a reconnaissance company of a motorized rifle unit of the Southern Military District stationed in the Volgograd Region, as well as a tactical group of 250 servicemen of the Indian armed forces.
The events will involve more than 100 units of weapons and military equipment, including armored combat tracked vehicles BMP-3, T-90A tanks, multiple launch rocket systems "Grad", armored personnel carriers, all-terrain vehicles, unmanned aerial vehicles, assault and army aviation of the Southern Military District, as well as about 300 different targets, of which more than 100 are mobile, imitating enemy vehicles and armored vehicles.
The task of the exercise is to increase the readiness of management bodies, forces and means to combat terrorism. The servicemen will perform tactical actions to search, detect and destroy illegal armed formations, search and destroy conditional explosive devices, conduct radiation, chemical and biological reconnaissance in buildings and on the ground.
