Minsk. July 30. INTERFAX - NATO's offensive military infrastructure is being methodically built up along the borders of Belarus, President of the Republic Alexander Lukashenko said at a meeting with local vertical activists on topical issues of the socio-political situation.
"Our country, being a link between the West and the East, has fallen into the epicenter of the civilizational confrontation. We are not exaggerating, but stating a fact: the offensive military infrastructure of NATO is being methodically built up along our borders, " Lukashenko stressed, as quoted by the state agency BelTA on Friday.
Speaking about the Western sanctions, he noted that their main goal is to leave Belarusians without pensions, salaries, benefits, and high-quality medical care.
"The West understands the inferiority of sanctions tactics for itself. Therefore, it introduces sanctions in stages-in batches. They sort of feel our pain points. They hit, first of all, the export sectors of the Belarusian economy: petrochemicals, mechanical engineering, the potash industry, and so on. But the main goal is to leave the people without pensions, salaries, benefits, education, medical care and cause discontent among Belarusians," Lukashenko said.
The President admitted that Belarus has never faced such a scale of restrictive measures.
