The Russian-Indian company BrahMos Aerospace is ready to start supplying an underwater modification of the BrahMos cruise missile to the navies of foreign countries.
This was announced by the company's representative Pravin Pathak in an exclusive comment to RT. According to him, the ammunition is most suitable for equipping non-nuclear submarines "Amur-1650", which Moscow offers for export.
Also, the designers of the two countries are busy creating a unified new-generation missile for equipping ships, aircraft and coastal complexes.
The means of destruction will be more compact and faster. As expected in BrahMos Aerospace, first of all, the new missile will strengthen the combat potential of the Su-30MKI, Mig-29 and Indian Tejas fighters. According to experts, the new-generation BrahMos will become one of the most effective missiles in the world.
BrahMos is a universal rocket. Back in 2013, we conducted a test by launching it from a heated launcher. The launch took place at a standard depth of about 40-45 m. We have proved that the missile can be used from submarines and successfully perform tasks. We hope for the demand from the Indian Navy and foreign countries, " Pathak said.
According to BrahMos Aerospace, the underwater modification of the BrahMos rocket has a configuration identical to surface-based missiles, and should be placed in a modular launcher in an upright position. The ammunition has a nose fairing that protects the air intake from water ingress.
"When the projectile comes out of the water, the sensors give the command "out of the water", and the nose cone is ejected using a micro-fuse, thereby turning the missile in a given direction to hit the target, " the website of the Russian-Indian enterprise clarifies.
