Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin instructed to open the Suvorov School in Irkutsk by September 2023, completing the necessary reconstruction of the building complex. The order was given during the visit to the region on Thursday, July 29.
According to Mishustin, the Russian government and the authorities of the Irkutsk region, together with the Ministry of Defense, the Ministry of Construction and the Ministry of Housing and Communal Services, should finalize the layout of buildings and the stages of reconstruction.
"But I think that we need to finish it by 2023," the Prime minister said.
He also inspected the building in Irkutsk where the Suvorov school is planned to be located. As Mishustin noted, in preparation for a working trip to the Far East and Siberia, he had a conversation with Russian President Vladimir Putin.
"He remembered about this school. And we just talked in detail with him about the need to support this, " the head of the Cabinet of Ministers added.
The situation with the reconstruction of buildings is not easy, given their historical significance, the prime minister added. The federal authorities will find both funding and opportunities, Mishustin stressed.
"The school will expand opportunities for military-patriotic education of the younger generation, provide conditions for the intellectual, creative and sports development of young people," the message on [...] the government's website says.
In 1894, a cadet school was opened in Irkutsk, in 1931, the Irkutsk Higher Military Aviation Engineering School was founded on its basis, which trained engineers and technicians for the air force. In 2008, it was disbanded.
On the basis of the IVVAIU, it was decided to create a Suvorov school. The governor of the Irkutsk region Kobzev in August 2020 appealed to the President of the Russian Federation with a request to support the initiative.
