The Ministry of Defense intends to create a phone and a mobile application for it specifically for military personnel.
A special feature of military gadgets will be secure communication. Thanks to a secure special channel, it will become almost impossible to listen to the phone during a conversation.
The military department has long been concerned about information security issues in military units. Since 2019, all military personnel have been banned from publishing information in social networks and using smartphones at service and training camps. During the service, you can not have a smartphone or any device with a camera and the ability to determine and transmit geolocation.
Violators face severe punishment - a cadet can be expelled, a conscript can be sent under disciplinary arrest, an officer can be deprived of another rank, and a contract employee can be dismissed.
These security measures are absolutely clear. Social networks are now read not only by friends and acquaintances of military personnel, but also by Western intelligence services. It would seem that harmless information about the service, exercises and locations of troops can immediately arouse the interest of those who should not know about the movements of units and the plans of the army. At the same time, technologies do not stand still, and a push-button phone will not help a military person, for example, to enter the website of public services or transfer utility bills by phone.
The military department understands these problems, so it is now developing special smartphones and mobile applications designed for military personnel and their family members. As the deputy head of the Department of Information Systems of the Ministry of Defense, Major General Alexander Osadchuk, told TASS, work on creating a smartphone for the military is being carried out on the basis of the military technopolis "Era". The mobile phone is being developed on the solutions presented by the domestic mobile platform "Aurora".
"In this direction, we are conducting experiments to create a secure phone, a smartphone, I emphasize, which will work in various modes, including those that will allow for secure communication," Osadchuk said. Now the Era technopolis is already testing the Quartz project to create a digital ecosystem for the daily activities of the military.
According to the general, experts are trying to consider the possibility of using mobile applications to solve everyday tasks.
On the basis of the Quartz project, the Passport system is now being implemented in the army, which should provide the military with access to the data that he needs in everyday life. He added that this system was also created to optimize the daily activities of both the serviceman and his family members.
By the way, a secure MIG C55 smartphone has already been created on the basis of the Russian Aurora operating system. It has an anti-shock, dust-and moisture-proof housing. The mobile phone can work both in high heat and humidity, and in abnormal cold.
