YEKATERINBURG, July 27-RIA Novosti. About 1 thousand Russian servicemen will take part in a trilateral exercise in Tajikistan near the border with Afghanistan, the Central Military District (CVO) reports.
"About 1 thousand Russian servicemen will take part in the trilateral tactical exercise of the military contingents of Uzbekistan and Tajikistan, which will be held from August 5 to 10 in the south of Tajikistan," the message says.
The exercise at the Harb-Maydon training ground will be held in three stages. During the first stage, the servicemen will work out preparations for a joint operation of the joint group of troops of the armed forces of Russia, Uzbekistan and Tajikistan to destroy terrorist gangs. At the second stage, joint tasks will be performed to destroy the invading conditional gang groups. At the final stage, the destruction of radical terrorist groups will take place when crossing the state border. At all stages of the exercise, the commanders of the units and the headquarters of the leadership will practice tactical actions with the use of reconnaissance-fire and reconnaissance-strike complexes.
The main purpose of the exercise is to improve practical skills in destroying terrorist gangs when trying to cross the state border. In addition, it is planned to work out management issues in the course of conducting joint actions to destroy illegal armed formations, as well as improving the moral and combat qualities of the personnel, psychological stability and physical endurance in a hot climate and mountainous and desert terrain, the Central Military District clarifies.
The basis of the Russian military contingent will be the units of the 201st military base, including mountain motorized rifle, tank, artillery units, as well as groups of a special separate special purpose unit of the Central Military District. In addition, specialists of the RCB protection and mobile electronic warfare groups will be involved in the exercise.
In total, more than 1.5 thousand military personnel will be involved in tactical actions from the three countries and about 300 units of weapons and military equipment will be involved, the district notes.
The Russian Foreign Ministry noted that the exercises in Tajikistan are a signal to the Central Asian partners against the background of the escalation in Afghanistan that there are joint forces that will solve the task of maintaining security.
