The Kalashnikov Group of Companies has transferred the Molniya Research and Production Association (NPO), which developed the Buran spacecraft, to the Tactical Missile Armament Corporation (KTRV). This was reported to journalists on Tuesday in the press service of Kalashnikov.
"NPO Molniya was transferred to KTRV as part of the consolidation of assets involved in the implementation of the scientific and production potential of rocket engineering," the press service informed.
As noted in the Civil Code, the NGO " Molniya "was part of the" Kalashnikov " since September 2018. "During the asset management, we managed to halve the company's debt, as well as double its revenue. The actions taken made it possible to prevent the bankruptcy of "Lightning" and to bring the company out of the crisis. As a result, the company was able to continue its activities and start working on new developments, " the press service noted.
NPO Molniya is the developer of the Soviet orbital reusable spacecraft Buran, as well as one of the largest Russian manufacturers of target rockets.
Buran is a Soviet reusable spacecraft. On November 15, 1988, it was launched from the Baikonur cosmodrome (now Kazakhstan) using an Energia launch vehicle, made two orbits around the Earth and landed on the territory of the cosmodrome. The flight took place without a crew, its duration was 205 minutes. Buran became the first spacecraft in history to land in automatic mode.
