The former head of the food department of the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation, Andrey Berezhnoy, created a criminal group to receive bribes. This was announced by the military prosecutor's office on July 26.
As the military prosecutor stated during the consideration of the colonel's case in the 235th Garrison Military Court, the group included four officers, TASS notes. Among them are the accused himself, his deputy Alexander Vakulin, a senior officer of the technical support department of the food department, Lieutenant Colonel Alexey Grinyuk, and a civilian specialist Alexander Boruvkov.
In March, the former deputy head of the department of the Russian Defense Ministry for competitive procedures, Alexander Boruvkov, was sentenced by a court to 6.5 years in a penal colony for fraud with state contracts for 650 million rubles and a bribe of 368 million rubles. The judge took into account the full admission of guilt by the defendant, the exposure of his accomplices, and partial compensation for damage.
He is also obliged to pay a fine of 368 million rubles.
In November 2020, the head of the housing and maintenance department for the Moscow region of the branch of the Central Housing and Communal Administration of the Ministry of Defense of Russia was sentenced to 6.5 years in a penal colony with a fine of 7.5 million rubles for embezzlement and bribes.
