Getting up at six in the morning, building on the parade ground and preparing equipment-this is how the summer training camps for cadets begin. Now more than 450 students and 18 officers of the military training center (VUC)are participating in them UrFU.
- We felt all the delights of army life, getting from Totsky railway station to the unit in KAMAZ cars. Now the guys have been distributed to nine military units of the Central Military District-from Engels to Abakan. Training camps are the long-awaited and final stage of training, where young men take the oath and work out theoretical knowledge in practice for a month. For example, tankers first learn control skills on computer simulators.
- It seemed that we were already rushing through the training ground - this is cooler than video games. The conditions were as close to reality as possible. Any unevenness of the virtual road was transmitted by a hydraulic drive, the headset complemented our feelings with a plausible engine sound, and the controls and instrument readings imitated a real combat vehicle, - tank cadets Viktor Voinkov and Oleg Sukhobsky share their impressions.
In total, the VUC trains more than a thousand people. They train officers in 18 military accounting specialties at five departments. According to the results of successful exams and work "in the fields", by order of the Minister of Defense, they are awarded the first military rank of "lieutenant", "sergeant" of the reserve - they study for 2-2.5 years before training camps. By the way, most often the guys want to enroll in the departments of special training and aerospace forces.
- Our first parachute jump took place here. It was an early rise, we collected life jackets, helmets, collected water. Career officers are trained for longer - five and a half years. They are signed a contract for service in the Armed Forces of Russia immediately after graduation. This year, more than 70 graduates of the Ural university joined their ranks.

The Military Training Center became one of the first educational institutions of specialized personnel training for the Russian Defense Ministry in civilian universities of the Sverdlovsk region. Today, 70 employees work on the training process, and 24 military veteran officers serve in the positions of the teaching staff of the VUC.
