Kiev. July 23. INTERFAX-UKRAINE-President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky presented the newly appointed head of this special Service, Alexander Litvinenko, to the staff of the Foreign Intelligence Service of Ukraine, the press service of the head of state reports.
"We all know Alexander Valeryevich, I have personally known him for two years. We work a lot in the National Security and Defense Council. We have done a lot under his leadership at the Institute for Strategic Studies. I really have great respect for Mr. Litvinenko. He is an experienced and respected person, a professional with an excellent reputation, " the president stressed.
According to Zelensky, Litvinenko perfectly understands the tasks facing the foreign intelligence service, he must keep professionals around him in order to reform the SVR together.
"Today we have one big task-the protection of our statehood, our sovereignty, territorial integrity. And everyone should do it transparently, openly, giving their strength and knowledge, " Zelensky said.
Litvinenko thanked the President for his trust and noted that this appointment is a great honor and challenge for him.
"I am convinced that the Foreign Intelligence Service has excellent traditions, excellent potential, very powerful specialists. And I am sure that together with you we will be able to do everything to protect the national interests of our state, to receive advanced, high - quality operational information about the plans and intentions of our enemy-the Russian Federation and other states. I am convinced that together we will justify the trust of the president, the leadership of the state and ensure the fulfillment of the tasks of our service, " he stressed.
The Head of State handed him an official certificate and congratulated him on his appointment to this responsible position.
Litvinenko was born in 1972 in Kiev. He has several higher educations. In particular, in 2009 he graduated from Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv with a degree in Law, and in 2013 - from the Royal College of Defense Sciences (RCDS), Great Britain.
He worked in various positions in the Security Service and the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine. Major General of the reserve. Since August 2019, he has held the position of director of the National Institute for Strategic Studies.
