Lavrov called on the Afghan authorities to start negotiations with the Taliban

Moscow. July 23. INTERFAX - The government of Afghanistan should not think about staying in power, but about the future of the country, and start negotiations with the Taliban as soon as possible (the Taliban movement is banned in the Russian Federation), Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said.

"We should not try to maintain the current uncertainty for as long as possible, and there are forces in Kabul that are interested in this, because it allows them to remain in power. We need to think not about ourselves, but about our country, and for this to start a dialogue with everyone, including the Taliban, as soon as possible, "Lavrov said on Friday at the webinar" Russian Foreign Policy: successes, challenges, tasks and prospects".
